So...that took way longer than it should have. I went through three different costuming drafts before settling on this one x_x! But now, finally and without further ado, I give you my Messier senshi, Sailor M59! Warning--her background is a little intense. I've been reading way too much GoT recently...
Senshi: Sailor Messier 59
Name: Jaea Khang
Age: 2,455 (~26 human years)
Height: 5'8
Weight: 135 lbs
Realm of Influence: Sea monsters
Basic History:
Jaea was born the fourth daughter of the Khang Imperial family, the rulers of the M59 galaxy. For most of her life, Jaea lived quietly in the shadows of her three older sisters. The eldest, Kilei, was set to inherit the throne from her father upon his death. Kilei was extremely talented at everything but politics, and so the second and wisest Khang sister, Surlela, was groomed to be her advisor. The third daughter, Yuwe, was a great beauty, sweet and docile, betrothed early in life to a young lord of one of the stars within M59, and married off only a few centuries after Jaea's birth. By the time Jaea came along, there was nothing left for her except, perhaps, to be married off like her sister.
Yuwe's husband Bakai Jeeo, however, schemed to wrench control of the galaxy from the Khang family. A skilled politician and exceedingly charming to boot, he used the death of Jaea's father to assemble a massive rebellion against the empire. First, he locked away a pregnant Yuwe on false charges, and after the birth of her twin girls, had her executed. Then, claiming the Khang family was a corruption that needs must be purged, he stormed the palace with his rebels and captured the entire royal family--Jaea, her two older sisters, and mother. Bakai planned to execute the entire family, and then place his infant daughters--the only remaining heirs--on the throne, but under his name (since, he claimed, to be a Khang was to be a traitor). And, of course, he would reign as regent until they came of age.
After three days of being locked in their chambers, the Khang family was brought before the court--headed by Bakai himself. One by one, eldest to youngest, the women were brought before the court, charged, and executed by the Jeeo tradition of bloodletting--by having their wrists and throats slit, such that their blood poured out and "cleansed" the earth which they had supposedly polluted with their crimes. While many had hoped that perhaps the Empress could summon her old powers as a sailor soldier to defend herself and the Empire, she was too old, and her powers had long since deserted her.
Jaea watched the deaths of her mother and her two sisters before being brought before Bakai. She faced him full of grace and pride, and like her family, refused to kneel and beg him for life. When the executioner came before Jaea and attempted to force her to the ground, however, aqua-colored light burst from her body and sent him flying across the room. When the guards rushed forward to attack her, Jaea's body began to glow again, her eyes turning a ghostly white, and the sigil of her house blazed upon her head. In that moment, her heart gave her the words that many had always assumed her older sisters would cry--"Messier Power, Make Up!"
Jaea, as SailorM59, turned the rebellion upon its head that day. She utterly decimated Bakai's ranks, and had Bakai himself executed after his own fashion. She restored the rightful leaders of the government, and set up a special task force to track down and eliminate the rest of the rebellion. She sent her nieces back to their home star, with a carefully selected regent to rule until they came of age. Jaea has since become known for her ruthlessness in dealing with her enemies, and her protectiveness of the Khang Empire. Her ascension to the role of sailor soldier was unexpected--but because of it, she has been able to restore peace to her galaxy. Jaea herself, however, is now totally devoid of her childhood innocence. She had become cold and hard, and will not suffer injustices to arise within what is now her Empire.
